Every size, side by side

Writing space is what really changes between sizes. The largest board gives you nearly six times the surface of the smallest, not twice as the dimensions alone might suggest.

Still deciding?

Three quick ways to land on an answer.

By household

18 × 24

Three or four people, one line each per day, still readable from the sink. Go one size up for five or more.

By wall

Two thirds

Aim for a board about two thirds the width of the furniture or space beneath it. Measure that width, take two thirds, pick the nearest size.

By distance

Step back

Stand where you will usually read it. If that is across a large room, choose 24 × 36 or larger so the writing stays easy to scan.

Before you order, tape it out

  1. Take painter's tape and mark the exact dimensions on the wall you have in mind.
  2. Center it about 60 inches from the floor, which puts the middle of the board at eye level.
  3. Leave it up for a day. Walk past it, read it from the doorway, from the table, from the sink.

If you are torn between two sizes, tape out the larger one first. Wall space always looks bigger empty than it does once a board is on it.

Every board is made to order and personalized, so choose your size carefully before approving your proof.
